What is the difference between vehicle tracking and fleet management?
Vehicle tracking focuses on where a vehicle is, the route it takes and its trip history. Fleet management is broader: it combines tracking data with information such as drivers, maintenance, fuel consumption and reports to organise how the whole fleet operates.
Can fuel consumption be monitored?
In many cases, yes. Fuel data can come from the vehicle network (CAN Bus) where the vehicle supports it, or from a compatible fuel-tank sensor. How accurate the data is depends on its source and on the vehicle.
Can vehicle data be read from the CAN Bus?
Yes, on vehicles that make their data available over the CAN Bus, using a tracker that supports this — sometimes with a suitable adapter. The data available depends on the vehicle make, model year, network protocol, device and configuration.
Is the same data available on every vehicle?
No. The data available varies from one vehicle to another depending on the manufacturer, model, model year and the devices and sensors installed. That is why it is best to review your vehicles before installation to confirm what can be read.
Can the fleet system be connected to Odoo?
Yes, as an optional add-on. The integration is one-way, from the tracking system to Odoo through an API, so the operational data you need is passed into Odoo. Its scope is defined around your organisation's needs.
Can sensors or cameras be added to the system?
Yes. Sensors such as temperature, door and fuel sensors, or vehicle cameras, can be added as long as they are compatible with the tracker and the platform. We can help you choose what suits your vehicles and needs.
