Overview

What a fleet dashcam adds to GPS tracking

A tracker tells you where a vehicle is and how fast it is going. A 4G-connected fleet camera adds the picture: what happened on the road and in the cab at the moment of a violation or incident, without waiting for the vehicle to return.

  • Live view and recording of the road and the cab, depending on channel count.
  • ADAS driver-assistance alerts on supported models, such as closing too fast on the vehicle ahead.
  • Driver monitoring (DMS) on models with a smart in-cab camera, to flag signs of fatigue or distraction.
  • GPS position attached to every clip and alert.
  • Local memory-card storage that keeps recording when coverage drops.

Alerts and clips appear on the monitoring platform next to the tracking data, so supervisors review the whole event on one screen. For the complete solution, see Video Telematics & Driver Safety.

  • Who can view recordings, and when.
  • How long clips are kept and how they are deleted.
  • Using alerts for coaching before penalties.

The operating company remains responsible for complying with local data-protection and privacy rules.

FAQ

Fleet dashcam FAQ

Short answers before you request a quote.

ADAS watches the road ahead and warns the driver about risks such as closing too fast on the vehicle in front. DMS watches the driver with an in-cab camera to flag signs of fatigue or distraction. Some Hero models combine both.

Yes. The models are 4G-connected, so you can view live video and retrieve clips through the monitoring platform on desktop or mobile, depending on your plan and network coverage.

The camera keeps recording to its memory card, and important clips can be uploaded when the connection returns, depending on configuration.

Two channels (road and cab) cover most service vehicles. Trucks and buses may need extra side or rear cameras, which suits a four-channel model such as the Hero-ME40-02 V8 Pro.
